Field notes

Start smaller. Make something real.

A simple way to take an idea from the notes app to a first working version.

A project does not need to start with a complete roadmap. Start with one useful thing it could do for one person. Write that down in a sentence.

Make the first version small

Choose the smallest version that would let someone try the idea. A single screen, a short script, or a paper prototype can teach you more than a long list of planned features.

Find someone to build alongside

Share the sentence before you have a polished pitch. Ask a friend or a fellow community member what they find interesting, confusing, or missing. An early conversation is a low-cost way to discover a better question.

Show the work

Make the first version easy to explain. Show what it does, describe one choice you made, and ask one specific question. You do not need to pretend it is finished.

Choose the next step

Use what you learned to decide what to keep, change, or leave behind. Momentum comes from finishing small loops, not from making the original plan longer.
